Got Me Thinking.....

A quote from "Why Revival Tarries" by Leonard Ravenhill

"Poverty-stricken as the Church is today in many things, she is most stricken here, in the place of prayer. We have many organizers, but few agonizers; many players and payers, few pray-ers; many singers, few clingers; lots of pastors, few wrestlers; many fears, few tears; much fashion, little passion; many interferers, few intercessors; many writers, but few fighters. Failing here, we fail everywhere."

As someone who is desperate to see God bring revival to His Church, I can look at this quote and find myself in the not-so-desired category.

It has got me thinking......and praying.

Anyone else????

Hiding of Gods power: Habakkuk 3:4 says and his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his [God’s] power. Have you ever wondered why the vast majority of believers do not see the real power of God? Oh there is plenty of jumping around acting like a fool saying it is a move of God going on today. The answer is found in Isaiah 59:2 but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. God is talking about the believer not the many. If you read further down in Isaiah 59 you will see we know what the sin is.
Because of iniquities and sin in the book of Amos 5:21-24 God clearly says I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

Well, let's get our list out and make sure we don't have any iniquities and then maybe we can see revival. I checked my list the other day and I still had one or two sins on there...if I can work those off maybe I'll see revival. Apart from prayer and agonizing and interceding, though, I am afraid I don't have much hope...seems like I just can't get rid of my iniquities by myself. Keep up the good work shoog.

Hi there Andrea, It is Elaina: I see a question why revival tarries [delay]. I read Habakkuk, Isaiah, Amos all the infallible [incapable of making a mistake] word of God as an answer to the question. I too have been praying for a mighty outpouring of God as well as mourning and weeping for the lost.
I read the other comment and clearly see mocking of God’s word. I am reminded of Jeremiah 17:9, 1 chronicles 28:9, Acts 3:19 for just a few. I am sitting here thinking what was posted was not man or woman’s words there are our Beloved Father’s precious and Holy, Holy, Holy words; God speaking to His children. It just made me sad and sick to my stomach.
I caught up on the blogs; I wanted to let you know that I am still standing in faith for Caroline’s healing as I continue to pray for you and your family.
If anyone is interested the Lord has been speaking Barabbas. I found an awesome sermon on line. Google, Give us Barabbas by Pastor James May. Don’t this person however the sermon was excellent. A worthy read for the 2nd person. Also Psalm 139:23-24 came to mind. We all would do good to follow David.
Did you know Barabbas real name is Jesus Barabbas, Barabbas means son of God?
God Bless

oh dear Sister I am right there with you!!! i have been driven to my knees, this week alone, so many times my knees hurt. Satan is working so much discord in the body lately and i know that means the Spirit is at work at well. Praying about it makes him so stinkin mad and I will continue to beg God's mercy and an outpouring of His Spirit on us. My mother told me today "Are you praying about it as much as you are talking about it?" and that phrase continues to emanate my mind and cause me to pray.

Love this quote...and at the same time it's truthfulness stings. Persistent prayer, passion and faith is what I want to be about...Our God deserves no less!

Well, I read the response to my comment. Guess I owe an apology. We are all on the same team here. I assure you I have no intent of mocking God's holy word. There is no question that we should grieve over sin. There is no question in my mind that most of us are not nearly as concerned about the seriousness of sin as we ought to be.

However, to my reading, the only folks that Jesus ever seriously chastised were the religious elite...those people whose lives were more devoid of outward iniquity than mine will likely ever be. The thrust of his teachings seem to center upon making sure that the relationship between God and a man was correct so that that particular man's actions would be correct. Stated another way, Jeus seemed to be more concerned about who we ARE rather than what we DO...because if we ARE right, we will DO right.

How does that relationship get right? By communing with the one that made us through prayer.

If we have to be devoid of iniquity before revival comes, I'm afraid we wil be waiting a long long time. I cannot see myself being devoid of iniquity until God calls me home.
